Family describes Jamie Metzger's life at time of disappearance

Say she lived a "transient" life.

WILLIAMS TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A February 2014 photo posted on her Facebook page is perhaps the last one taken of Jamie Lee Metzger.

The mother of two went missing in April that same year.

Now, in 2017, police say her badly decomposed body was found last week in a basement bin inside the family home of Carl Maes, who Metzger's family says was her boyfriend.

Police say the bin was heavily secured and mixed in with others.

The bin was found by Maes's brother Curt, who investigators say is fully cooperating with the investigation.

As of now there are no suspects but family members say they have their suspicions about what happened to Metzger.

They say at the time of her disappearance she was going through a tough time but she would always check in with her mom and kids every three days.

Metzger had issues with opioid abuse stemming from a gastric bypass surgery, lived a transient lifestyle and had what family members call a troubling relationship with Maes, who in November was found dead in the Scottish Inn and Suites in Hanover Township.

Mae's cause of death is also pending an autopsy.

But at this time police don't believe his death is suspicious.

Northampton County D.A. John Morganelli says he waiting for an autopsy report and a report by state police before going forward.
