Family sues school for student's death

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Bethlehem Area School District has been slapped with a lawsuit from the family of a student they say drowned after a mandatory swim class.

The family of Juanya Spady says the sophomore was forced to participate in a swim class at Liberty High School in 2010 despite not feeling well.

Spady collapsed during his next class and later died.

Now the lawsuit says the family believes Spady died of secondary drowning, also called dry drowning, which can occur hours after leaving the pool.

We did put a call in to the school's attorney and have not yet received a response.
