Fight investigation in Wilson leads to 2 arrests, 2 hurt

WILSON, Pa. - A call to investigate a fight in the borough of Wilson ended with two men charged for threatening and assaulting officers and at least two people hurt.

Police were called to the 1700 block of Butler Street, near Spanky's East Gentlemen's Club, around 2 a.m. Saturday for a report of a large fight.

Officers found Josh Oliver, who matched the description of one of the actors involved in the fight, about a block away.

He ran from police and when officers caught up to him, he threatened them with a loaded pistol and a struggle ensued. Wilson officers used a Taser to subdue him and took him into custody.

Oliver, 30, is charged with possessing a firearm when he's not supposed to, aggravated assault on law enforcement and resisting arrest. The Easton resident pleaded guilty to a burglary charge back in 2007 and he was not allowed to have a gun.

Oliver is in Northampton County Prison unable to post $50,000 bail.

During the investigation into the fight, someone who knew Oliver kept trying to go in the crime scene and wouldn't leave. Palmer Township resident Terrence Roderick Jr., 29, lunged at and scratched an officer. He was charged with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Around 2:20 a.m., police were called to Easton hospital for two assault victims.

A 36-year-old Easton resident and her brother, 39, of Allentown, said they pulled up to Spanky's East Gentlemen's Club and were assaulted by a group of about 10 men.

Both had several lacerations from being slashed by a knife, but the injuries were not life threatening. Wilson Borough Police believe the injuries are related to the initial call for a fight.

Police are still investigating the incident.

Anyone with information should call Detective Hillis at 610-258-8746.
