Fire in Allentown forces crews to evacuate entire area

Allentown Fire

Allentown firefighters say they battled a fire that started in a basement late Saturday night.

Flames could be seen coming from an apartment building in the 13-hundred block of Woodlawn Street in the city. Officials say the fire started in the laundry room portion of the basement. They say the surrounding buildings had to be evacuated as well, but no one was hurt.

No word on what sparked the fire.
