Five City Center Innovation Tower construction could begin soon

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Developers from City Center Investment Corporation are planning to go before the Zoning Hearing Board Sept. 11 for approval to begin their project.

The developers want to begin demolition in the blocks of 736 to 740 and 742 to 744 on Hamilton Street. The demolition would give way for the construction of the Five City Center Innovation Tower.

The 353-foot tall tower will consist of 24 floors and 442,000 gross square feet.

The master plan is developed by Studios Architecture and Land Collective, and construction is scheduled to begin next year with a tentative completion date of late 2020.

About 30,000 gross square feet will be used for commercial space and 168,000 gross square feet will be used for 12 floors of residential space, or 150 apartments.

There will be about 1,000 parking spaces included with the new tower development.
