Five roads to be improved in Bushkill Twp.

BUSHKILL TWP., Pa. - The Bushkill Township Board of Supervisors approved a request to advertise a bid to have five separate township roads resurfaced later this year, during Thursday night's meeting.

Township Manager Brian Harris noted the level coursing will be done to Johnson Road, Arthur's Court, Round Table Drive, Gower Road and Schoeneck Avenue.

The request for proposal submissions will be opened June 4th and announced the next night at the board of supervisors' meeting.

One road in the township that will see its speed limit remain the same is Bushkill Center Road, according to Harris, after a speed study request made by the township to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation indicated that the 45 mph criteria should remain the same.

A township resident had made the request to lower the speed limit, triggering the review.

In other business Thursday night, the board approved the hiring of Nathan Correll to the status of full-time police officer from part-time.

With the promotion, Correll is now the township's 13th full-time officer, according to Police Chief Michael McLouth.

Supervisors also agreed to remit payment for the final invoice for the Public Works Department's salt shed after a brutal winter in the amount of $21,403.
