Forks supervisors postpone apartment complex

FORKS TWP., Pa. - The Forks Township Board of Supervisors Thursday evening decided to postpone proceeding with moving forward with an apartment complex.

The supervisors opted to vote 1-4 in opposition to the ordinance to permit the building of apartments in two separate areas, northern of Braden Park.

Supervisor Ed Moore is the sole member who decided to support the ordinance.

According to Moore, he said the complexes were not wholly wrong in the areas.

"At the end of the day, and looking at everything we did, a decision has to be made," Moore exclaimed. "I'd be proactive."

Chairman John O'Neil said he hopes the matter comes to fruition soon.

"Nobody's going to be happy," he said.

Supervisor Erik Chuss shared he's looking to forward apartments elsewhere.

"I think this is the best decision" Chuss said.

According to the ordinance, it would permit the building of apartments west of Sullivan Trail and North of Uhler Road, as well as between Kesslersville and Newlins road.

The board indicated they were concerned the apartment areas would be too close to the airport.

The board schedules to meet again Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.
