Former congressional candidate Marty Nothstein plans to sue USA Cycling

Former Lehigh Valley congressional candidate Marty Nothstein is suing USA Cycling for slander, libel, and defamation.

His attorney filed a writ of summons on Friday, notifying USA Cycling that a lawsuit is coming.

Last year, Nothstein denied claims about an alleged sexual harassment incident dating back nearly 20 years.

The allegations reportedly came to USA Cycling from an anonymous tipper.

SafeSport conducted an investigation and closed it with no action against Nothstein citing the available information and evidence.

Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin also investigated the tip and said it had no basis, effectively clearing Nothstein of the allegations.

Martin said the woman named in the tip even denied something happened.

However, shortly after the tip Nothstein was placed on administrative leave from his position as the head of the Valley Preferred Cycling.

Nothstein says those allegations cost him his job at Valley Preferred Cycling Center.
