Former Parkland standout athlete Austin Scott facing felony drug charges

Austin Scott faces drug charges

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Former Parkland and Penn State football standout Austin Scott is facing nine felony drug charges.

Scott, 28, of 2118 W. Allen Street, Allentown, was arraigned by Lehigh County Magisterial District Judge Patricia Warmkessel Wednesday night, court paperwork shows.

According to the documents, he faces nine counts of felony drug charges for manufacturing, delivering or possession with the intent to manufacture or deliver.

He's also charged with criminal use of a communication facility.

The criminal complaint states that Scott sold marijuana to undercover officers on four separate occasions in July, September and October at various locations in South Whitehall Twp. and Allentown.

When police searched his home, they found marijuana, a scale and a pipe.

Scott was a 2003 graduate of Parkland and helped the team win a state title in 2002.  He was heavily recruited and eventually played for Penn State.

Scott was charged in 2007 with raping a woman at his Penn State University apartment but the charges were later dropped.

In 2008 Scott was signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns but was released during the preseason.

In 2009, a lawsuit filed by Scott was dropped -- it claimed the rape allegations and subsequent arrest ruined his football career.

He was released on $10,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 12.
