Friends, family pay tribute to woman who was killed by car while jogging

5K held in memory of Angela Pope

Supporters rally for late jogger's family

OREFIELD, Pa. - Friends and family paid tribute to the mother of three who died after being hit by a car while she was jogging.

69 News was at Parkland High School Sunday morning for the Angela's Angels 5K Run and Walk

The race was in memory of 47-year-old Angela Pope.

Pope was struck and killed by car on Route 873 in Washington Township, Lehigh County back in March.

More than 300 runners and walkers participated in the race.

Pope's family says she was a kind-hearted person would do anything for her kids and her community.

And they are grateful for the support they have received.

"I can't even tell you how overwhelming this is...It's so wonderful," said Ann Truitt. "I come from a town near Philadelphia and I've been telling everyone that I've never seen a community come together like this for my brother and his kids."

All of the proceeds from the event will go to an education fund for Pope's children.

Just last month, the driver involved in the accident was charged with involuntary manslaughter and homicide by vehicle..
