Friends honor Palisades High School student who died in crash

Memorial set up for teen driver killed in crash

BEDMINSTER TWP., Pa. - Flowers, balloons and cards mark the site of the car accident that took the life of 16-year-old Abby Stauffer.

"She had so much light, so much life ahead of her," said Stauffer's friend Brooklyn Pasceri.
Huddled together for support, a strong group of teens came to visit the growing memorial on Sunday morning, honoring the memory of their dear friend.

"She was the type of person that always really knew what to say when you were down, had a bad day," said Pasceri.
"There was so much wisdom for someone who was only 16 years old," said friend Lisa Lochner.

Bedminster Township Police say Stauffer was headed southbound on South Park Road Thursday afternoon when she lost control of the car, spinning several times and hitting a tree at the intersection of Old Ridge Road.  She died hours later at the hospital.

The crash happened just a few miles down the road from Palisades High School where Stauffer was finishing out her junior year.

"There was a lot of love at school the other day when it was announced," said Lochner.

Friends say they're still in shock by the tragedy.  They describe Stauffer as a hard worker, talented photographer and all-around incredible person who gave her time serving others on mission trips.

"She was a great friend and I'll never forget the lessons that she taught me, the moments that we had," said Pasceri.
A birthday balloon and birthday card also sit at the memorial as Stauffer would have celebrated her 17th birthday on Friday, the day after the crash.

Bedminster Township Police are still investigating the crash working to figure out exactly what happened.
