Giver of the Week: Kung Kim

WESCOSVILLE, Pa. - With your help we collected more than 800 coats during our annual coat drive this month.

On Tuesday, the coats were taken to a local dry cleaner who will make sure they are in good shape before they are given to those in need.

"Some of them are dry cleanable, some of them are washable," says Kung Kim, owner of JC Cleaners in Wescosville.

In previous years, we collected around 300 to 400 coats. Kim agreed to clean the coats collected this year but without knowing exactly how many we would get. This year it would be more than 800.

"So when I went back and I said to him 'Kong I feel really bad about this it's about twice the number of coats I told you.' He looked a little shellshocked at first and went 'no I want to do this for the community. This is good I'll be fine,'" says Barry Fisher, the President and General Manger of WFMZ 69 News.

"It's the first time I'm doing this kind of work but it's really challenging and I want to help. I pride myself on helping other people," says Kim.

Kim doesn't consider what he's doing going above and beyond. He says he's just doing what he can to help those who need coats the most. He says next year, "I will do it again. It is fun."

This holiday season we want to keep the spotlight on those who go above and beyond to help their neighbors and their community. If you know someone who fits that description, send an email to news@wfmz.com.
