Gun found in Easton

EASTON, Pa. - A 25-year-old Easton man will appear before a judge Thursday night to face charges for several crimes.

Saladine Bellamy, wanted by the Easton Police Department for receiving stolen property, was spotted walking along North 13th Street in Easton.

When detectives approached him and informed him that he was under arrest for a warrant issued for the felony, Bellamy fled, running on Northampton street and through the Paxinosa Elementary school property.

Detectives said they pursued Bellamy back onto North 13th Street where they arrested him on the 1300 Block of Liberty Street.

He was in possession of approximately 100 packages of heroin at the time, police said.

In retracing the path of Bellamy's escape, police said they found a loaded .22 revolver on the lawn of the elementary school.

Further investigation revealed that the gun had been reported stolen by the Palmer Township Police Department.

Bellamy will be arraigned by the magisterial district judge on-call.

He will be charged with possession with the intent to deliver heroin and with escaping from police.

Charges in connection with the firearm will be pending laboratory analysis, police said.
