Hail hits Northampton County community

MOORE TWP., Pa. - Golf ball sized hail hit a Northampton County community Wednesday evening.

It was around 6 p.m. when Lisa Todd said she started seeing large rain drops in her Moore Township neighborhood.

Moments later, that rain turned to ice.

"All of a sudden it started raining these huge rain drops. So I ran up to the porch and heard the little dings on the air conditioner," Todd said.

Todd said she immediately grabbed blankets to protect her vehicles from the golf-ball sized hail.

She then grabbed her camera and started recording.

According to Todd, the hail only fell for about five minutes.

"It was gone in like five minutes. Ten minutes later the sun came out and nice blue skies," Todd said.

But that was enough time for her cars to sustain some minor dents.

"It could have been worse," Todd said.

Before the hail melted away, Todd said she and her daughter decided to get a taste of Mother Nature.

"I picked one up off the ground, one of the real big ones. I wondered what one of these tasted like, so I took a bite of it. Doesn't taste like an ice cube though," Todd said.
