Hairy faces helping the community

Allentown police raise money for local nonprofits

VIDEO: 'No-shave November' for the APD

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Members of the Allentown Police Department put down their razors to raise some money for the community.

Last month marked the department's first "No-shave November." Police Chief Glen Dorney said members of the department kicked in $20 each in exchange for not shaving.

The department raised $2,660 and donated the money to Dream Come True, Valley Youth House, the Boys and Girls Club of Allentown, the Neighborhood Center of Allentown and the Hair of the Dog Rescue.

But December won't be a clean shave as officers are now raising money to take Allentown children Christmas shopping.
