Hellertown man accused of beating 13-year-old boy

Robert Cooney faces assault, harassment charges

HELLERTOWN, Pa. - A Northampton County man has been jailed on charges in the beating of a 13-year-old boy.

Robert J. Cooney, 38, of Hellertown, was arrested July 30. He's accused of repeatedly punching and hitting the teen in the mouth and head.

Cooney was charged with simple assault, endangering the welfare of a child and harassment.

He was taken to the Northampton County Prison, but was released after posting 10 percent of $10,000 bail.
