Investigators allege man sexually assaulted sleeping teen

The victim reported three alleged encounters

SLATINGTON, Pa. - A Lehigh County man is facing allegations that he sexually assaulted a teenage girl at least three times while she had been sleeping.

Authorities charged William J. Neidermeyer, of Maple Spring Drive in Slatington, with a felony count of aggravated indecent assault of a person younger than 16 and misdemeanor counts of indecent assault and corruption of minors. District Judge Jacob Hammonds arraigned the 49-year-old Wednesday morning, setting bail at $50,000.

The Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office began investigating the alleged incidents in May after the girl’s mother reported the allegations against Neidermeyer to the Slatington Police Department.

The victim told investigators that the first incident occurred in late summer or early fall of 2016. She reported being asleep in Neidermeyer’s camper at a Northampton sportsmen’s club, when she awoke to him allegedly touching her, according to court records.

The girl was 14 years old at the time.

The second incident reportedly occurred at the Slatington home of Neidermeyer’s parents. The girl told investigators that she was asleep in the basement, when she was again awoken by Neidermeyer allegedly touching her.

The victim reported that the third incident also occurred in the home of Neidermeyer’s parents last winter. The teenager told investigators she woke up to find Neidermeyer sitting on the bed next to her before allegedly sexually assaulting the girl.

It’s not clear from court records how Neidermeyer knew the teenager.

After failing to post bail, Neidermeyer was sent to Lehigh County Jail to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for Dec. 20.
