Ironton Railroad caboose moved

WHITEHALL, Pa. - An unusual vehicle was rolling with the traffic on Route 145 in Whitehall Township this morning.
Workers were moving a caboose to its new home on the Ironton Rail-Trail.
Caboose Number 6 had been used on the old Ironton Railroad for many years.
But it has languished at the Whitehall Parkway since 2000.
Then, about a year ago, Township officials finally decided to get it out of there.
The Ironton Rail-Trail was more than happy to take it in.
Ray Bieak, Ironton Rail-Trail Commissioner, said "This is what we've been waiting for.. for a year. It took a year of a labor of love for the welders and the painters to restore the caboose,".
The Rail-Trail commissioners say they're grateful for the money, time, andequipment that was donated, including a crane.
It was all used to help move Caboose Number 6 to its new home.
