EMMAUS, Pa. - Police are trying to figure out who's responsible for torching a Jesus statue outside a Lehigh County church.
The severely damaged statue was set on fire Sunday morning outside St. Ann Catholic Church on Sixth Street in Emmaus.
Officials say the statue was doused in lighter fluid and set on fire. A can of lighter fluid was found near the statue.
The church's pastor says it will cost about $2,000 to replace the statue. The statue is made of resin with a concrete interior. The resin is completely destroyed, so the statue will need to be replaced, the pastor said.
The church is filing an insurance claim.
Anyone with information is asked to call Emmaus police.
