PHILADELPHIA - Another key figure in the federal corruption probe of Allentown and Reading city halls answered to criminal charges Tuesday in federal court in Philadelphia.

Lehigh Valley consultant Jim Hickey pleaded not guilty to charges he faces in connection with the pay-to-play cases against former Mayor Vaughn Spencer and current Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski.

Hickey is accused of taking campaign donations for Pawlowski's gubernatorial campaign from a company that was awarded contracts for Allentown's streetlights.

Pawlowski was indicted last week on more than 50 federal charges.

Similar charges were brought against former Reading Mayor Vaughn Spencer who also pleaded not guilty Tuesday.

Trial dates have not yet been set for any of the men.
