Jury selected in trial of man accused of killing rapper

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A jury is now seated for a murder trial in Allentown.

Manuel Gonzalez is accused of gunning down an aspiring rapper, DeVon Robinson, leaving him to die in a gas station parking lot. Testimony will get underway Tuesday morning.

In an earlier hearing, witnesses said it all started with a fight over one man throwing juice at another.

On stage, Robinson went by Daze Dysh, a young man driven to succeed in the music business.  But for the ex-Liberty High football player, all that ended in a Sunoco gas station parking lot at 12th and Hamilton streets, just blocks from Robinson's home, in October 2011.

Witnesses have testified Robinson was shot to death after trying to break up a fight that started with juice being thrown at someone.

The community held vigils and memorial concerts, but months went by without an arrest. That all ended in an attic near Hall and Gordon streets in Allentown in February 2012.

Police found Manuel Gonzalez, 24, hiding there. Two witnesses pointed him out of a lineup.  In an earlier hearing, Gonazalez's girlfriend testified that he confessed to shooting Robinson.

If Gonzalez is convicted of first degree murder, he faces life in prison with no chance of parole.
