Kevin Esterly to be extradited to Pennsylvania

MIAMI - The man who ran off with an Allentown teen almost two weeks ago was in Florida court Monday morning.

Kevin Esterly, 45, agreed to be extradited back to Pennsylvania, Florida officials told 69 News.

Officials said authorities in Pennsylvania have up to two weeks to pick him up from Miami. No word yet on when he will be brought back to Allentown.

He is being held in Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami on a felony custodial interference charge after he was found in Mexico over the weekend with Amy Yu, 16.

Police said Esterly and Yu developed a secret relationship over the past few months before they disappeared together on March 5th.

Police said Yu walked away from her Allentown bus stop that morning, then the pair flew out of Philadelphia.

They were found at the Playa del Carmen resort in Quintana Roo, Mexico Saturday morning. Yu arrived in Philadelphia Sunday morning. Her mother told 69 News Yu is at St. Luke's Hospital, though it's not clear what she is being treated for or how long she will be there.

Esterly remains in prison in Miami, awaiting extradition.
