"King" Solomon Tembo falls in mayoral bid

"King" Solomon Tembo...

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Independent candidate for Allentown mayor, Solomon Tembo, said creating more jobs was at the top of his agenda.

But now, he won't have the chance to fulfill his plans.

The Allentown businessman, "King" Solomon Tembo, moved here from Zimbabwe 24 years ago. His plans included to build restaurants, bars, apartments and office buildings to drive more jobs to the area and spur economic growth.

"People of Allentown, you can build a small factory, a clothing factory, maybe a technical school," he said.

Tembo also said he wanted to focus on the addicted as well as the dealers by having them voluntarily turn themselves in.

"We would give them training and job placements for a second chance at life," Tembo said.

These are just some of the ideas Tembo had in store for Allentown that he'll have to work to enact outside of the mayor's office.
