Lafayette College Baseball holds special draft for Hunterdon Co. boy

Craig Santagata of Glen Gardners the new member

EASTON, Pa. - It was national letter of intent day and the Lafayette Leopards had a very special signing.

The Leopards signed 12-year-old Craig Santagata to an honorary roster spot on their baseball team.

Santagata lives in Glen Gardner in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.

He was diagnosed with a rare Brachial Plexus Schwannoma in 2016.

The team wanted to do something special for him so they're bringing him to practice this year and a whole lot more this year.

Lafayette Baseball Coach Joe Kinney and the other players say they are excited for Santagata to be a part of the team which includes attending Leopards practices, games, team dinners, events, and more.

The event was put on in part by Team IMPACT, a national nonprofit headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts that connects children facing serious or chronic illnesses with college athletic teams, forming life-long bonds and life-changing outcomes.
