Lafayette College freshman's friend: 'He had a killer smile'

McCrae Williams died last Monday of head injuries

A private burial service was held in Massachusetts on Monday for the Lafayette College freshman who died last week.

Officers found McCrae Williams in the parking lot outside Ruef Hall North last Sunday. A public safety log shows campus security responded to an alcohol-related call.

Williams was taken to the hospital and died the next day from head injuries, but we still don't know the specifics.

"As I started to accept it, I was angry," said friend Ramesh Nagarajah. "I'm a pretty religious person, and I was pretty upset, baffled as to why something could happen to such an amazing kid."

Nagarajah said he remembers their frequent, deep conversations and how Williams was fun loving.

"He had a killer smile, one that was infectious," he recalled.

The two knew each other as kids and kept in touch when Williams went to a boarding school in Massachusetts before he attended Lafayette College. He said Williams was passionate about being on the lacrosse team at Lafayette.

"Lacrosse was his favorite thing to do," Nagarajah said. "He played goalie and he practiced it religiously, and at the same time, something that a lot of people may not know, mostly his closer friends know, is how talented of an artist he was."

Williams was also close with his family.

"All of his goals were definitely rooted in pleasing his family and doing what was best for them, and there was no time he was happier than when he was with his family, to be out and about traveling the world," Nagarajah said.
