LANta gets federal grant for two projects

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Some big bucks from Washington will help LANta get the wheels turning on two major projects.

Tuesday Federal Transit Administrator Peter Rogoff presented LANta with more than $14 million in grant money.

Four million dollars will go toward the lease of the new intermodal transportation center on South Third Street in Easton.

And more than $10 million will help pay for the construction of a maintenance garage at LANta's Allentown facility.

"These kinds of projects not just put people back to work, but they put them to work on incentives that really improve the quality of life for thousands more people for decades to come," said Federal Transmit Administrator Peter Rogoff.

Ground is supposed to be broken soon on the Easton project.

Construction on the maintenance center in Allentown probably won't happen until next year.
