LANTA gets $4 million grant

EASTON, Pa. - The Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority is in line to receive $4 million in federal money.

According to U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright, D-Pa. 17th District, the U.S. Department of Transportation will distribute the money as part of obligated federal funding to LANTA.

The money will be disbursed through the U.S. Federal Transit Administration.

LANTA will use the grant to partially fund a 99-year lease from the City of Easton for the public transportation elements of the new Easton Intermodal Transportation Center.

"As a proud advocate of public transportation, I am pleased that this grant will help LANta fund its lease with the city of Easton for the foreseeable future," said Cartwright. "This grant will support the economic revitalization of downtown Easton."

The intermodal project was announced in Novermber 2011.
