Lehigh beats Colgate in Patriot League opener

Bethlehem, PA - After dropping their first two games of the season, Lehigh found their rhythm against the Ivy League, beating Penn, Princeton, and Yale by a combined 63 points.

Nick Shafnisky won back to back Patriot League Offensive Player off the Week awards.   Then last week against Yale, sophomore quarterback Brad Mayes threw for a school record 524 yards, picking up Lehigh's third straight Patriot League honor.

Shafnisky was back in the saddle Saturday afternoon at Goodman Stadium, as the Mountain Hawks opened up their Patriot League schedule against Colgate.  He threw for 394 yards and a career high five touchdowns with one interception.

His favorite target was Gatlin Casey, who finished with 11 receptions for 196 yards and three touchdowns.  He'd also return a kickoff for a score.

Troy Pelletier had six receptions for 102 yards and a score.

The teams combined for 993 yards of total offense.  The Mountain Hawks win their fourth straight, 45-31.  They travel to DC next Saturday to take on Georgetown.
