Lehigh Co. commissioners approve debt referendum

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Lehigh County voters will have a chance to have their say on certain county financial decisions.

The commissioners unanimously approved a debt referendum bill Thursday night.

The bill would create a ballot question that asks voters if they want to amend the county's home rule charter.

The provision would give voters final say on issuing county loans for projects that primarily benefit private parties.

County Executive William Hansell is expected to sign the bill.
