Lehigh County commissioner resigns for move to Texas

Scott Ott leaves board with 19 months left for wife's ministry

MACUNGIE, Pa. - One of Lehigh County's commissioners is leaving the board to move for his wife's job in the ministry.

Scott Ott announced his resignation Wednesday at a board meeting with 19 months left on his four-year term.

Ott said his family is moving from Macungie to Texas where his wife Stephanie has been hired as a full-time director of children's ministry at a church.

Ott was elected in 2011 and has served as chair of several committees as well as the vice chair of the board.

He said, in a release, that his full-time job as a writer and video commenter for PJTV.com allows him to work anywhere there's a good internet connection.

"Stephanie has a calling to serve Jesus through children's ministry," Ott said, "and I'm delighted to be able to support that calling. I admire her passion and dedication to both the Lord and to our family."

His board resignation is effective May 30.
