Lehigh County is very sound, exec says

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The new leader of Lehigh County says economic recovery efforts are on track and moving well.

County Executive Tom Muller delivered his first state of the county address Thursday morning at Coca Cola Park in Allentown.

Muller said things are going well in the county and he will use feedback from residents to determine the way forward.

He said the biggest challenge is determining how to keep taxes as low as possible without sacrificing vital services.

"Our county is financially sound, recovering steadily from the recession. Your county government is financially very sound. And all we need to do is come to grips collectively to determine the balance again of what the citizens want between our taxes and our services,"Muller said.

He said the unusually large amount of snow this winter has provided some extra financial challenges for local municipalities.

But he said he is confident they can ride out the storm.
