Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority approves sale of 250+ acres of airport property

LNAA land sale

The Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA) approved the sale of large piece of land just to the north of the airport.

The New York-based Rockefeller Group is buying 253 acres of airport property, Charles Everett, the Executive Director of the Lehigh Valley International Airport said.

The land will be the footprint of a new FedEx warehouse, LNAA Chairman Tony Iannelli and board member Dean Browning said.

The 253 acres is part of a 434 acre parcel of land just north of the airport that's being sold off to cover debt from a legal judgment over the initial taking of that land by the airport authority

The Rockefeller Group is paying $9.6 million dollars for the land, Everett said.

The developers now have 6-and-a-half-years to complete construction, said Everett.

The 181 additional acres in that parcel can also be purchased by the Rockefeller Group.

Another almost-300 acres to the east of the airport is not part of the agreement with The Rockefeller Group.  It is land that local developers can bid on.
