Lehigh Valley business owners, workers protest on May Day

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - All around the world, protests and parades were held to mark International Workers' Day, also known as May Day.

May Day was also observed here in the Lehigh Valley. Some business owners decided to close up shop and take to the streets to demonstrate in Allentown.

"We are workers, students, professionals, we are productive members of society and the US would not be able to function without its immigrant population," said Ricardo Almodovar of Make the Road PA.

Juan Jose Fernandez closed down his Allentown office to speak out.

"In reality, it's injustice what the government is doing to the immigrants, we are all immigrants, this is a country made of immigrants," Fernandez said.

Many people protested in support of friends, family and principle.
