Lehigh Valley JC Penney store to remain open; 7 others in Pa. to close

WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. - Lehigh Valley's J.C. Penney store in Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, will remain open, despite more than 130 closures across the United States.

The company announced it is closing 138 stores; seven of those are in Pennsylvania. The stores closing in Pennsylvania are as follows:

  • Columbia Mall, Bloomsburg
  • Clearfield Mall, Clearfield
  • King of Prussia Mall, King of Prussia
  • Philadelphia Mills, Philadelphia
  • Bradford Towne Centre, Towanda
  • Lycoming Mall, Pennsdale
  • Willow Grove Park, Willow Grove

In February, J.C. Penney said it would close between 130 and 140 stores.  

The company said about 5,000 employees will be affected. Stores will begin the liquidation process in April.
