Lehigh Valley receives $5 million in state solar energy grants

A total of nearly $5 million in state solar energy grants was awarded to the Lehigh Valley for projects.

The projects include installing solar systems and roof-mounted solar arrays to generate electricity in the Palmer Township and Bethlehem areas.

State Senator Lisa Boscola says she's encouraged by the economic and environmental promise of solar energy, and will continue to seek funds to grow the sector.

The funds were approved Friday by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
