Lehigh Valley residents enduring Irma's wrath

Rob Vaughn riding out the storm

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Some people from the Lehigh Valley are riding out Hurricane Irma in Florida.

WFMZ's own Rob Vaughn is one of them. He is near Clearwater, Florida because his father is in hospice care nearby.

"I never expected to be down here in Florida during the hurricane," Rob said.

He said he is hunkered down in a high-rise condo.

"It's kind of intense. It's kind of an eerie feeling ... to know that that monster of a storm is approaching us. We have what we need; water, food, flashlights, batteries ... we're just going to brace and ride it out," he said.
