SCHNECKSVILLE, Pa. - More than one million lights transformed the Lehigh Valley Zoo into a winter wonderland Friday night.

"It's like nothing I've ever seen before," said Gloria Schreiber from Bethlehem.

People from across the area bundled up to help kick off the Zoo's annual Winter Lights Spectacular, a holiday tradition for some families who say the cold wasn't going to stop them.

"We've got snow pants on and boots and hand warmers and we're just having a blast," said Jessica Keefe from Center Valley.

"Just kind of makes it all even better," said Courney Monahan from Bethlehem.

The Winter Lights Spectacular is the zoo's largest fundraiser of the year with all proceeds going toward animal conservation projects.

Each year there are more lights and new displays, like this year's Toy Story scene.

The event also features Santa Claus, straight from the North Pole, and other special guests like Elsa from “Frozen.”

From tons of twinkling colors to singing princesses, the Winter Lights Spectacular is officially up and running for the holiday season.

The event runs every Wednesday through Sunday until December 31, 2017.
