Local author gets noticed by famous actress

VIDEO: Local author gets big endorsement

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - A local author is getting some rave reviews on her new book and a famous actress who played a writer on TV is among those taking notice.

Lehigh University English Professor Stephanie Powell Watts is an instructor by fall but an author by summer.

I started it probably eight or nine years ago, and it started at a very different form," said Watts.

Her book, "No one is Coming to Save Us," is a story about fertility, infertility, mothers and daughters, and getting over things in life that give us the most trouble and anxiety.

Once it made to the shelves it got rave reviews.

One reviewer even compared it to one of Watts' favorite books of all time, The Great Gatsby.

"I'm really honored to be compared with Gatsby," said Watts.

Watts also got the nod of approval from Hollywood.

Sarah Jessica Parker picked Watt's book as her first recommendation as chair of Book Club Central, a campaign by the American Library Association.

“I was so nervous, because she's a fashion icon in addition to all the other amazing things she does, and I thought, what am I going to wear?” said Watts with a laugh.

Parker didn't only pick it, she praised it, adding she's jealous of all who open to page one for the first time.

"That was really sweet," said Watts.
