LITTLE ELM, Texas - Two local high school graduates were victims of an apparent murder-suicide in Texas, authorities said.

Bethany Chomitzky Shaffer and her husband, Robert Shaffer, were both found dead inside their home in Little Elm, Texas, around 5 p.m. Thursday, police said.

The couple was separated, and Robert was living elsewhere, but it appears Robert shot and killed Bethany before turning the gun on himself, police said.

Bethany was a 1997 graduate of Whitehall High School in Lehigh County; Robert was a 1992 graduate of Allen High School in Allentown.

Little Elm is located about 45 minutes north of Dallas.
