Local man takes business idea to the beach

Scooters at the beach

Sea Isle City, New Jersey is a barrier island nestled between Ocean City and Avalon.

It's known for its intimate beaches and thriving mom-and-pop businesses. You can find candy stores, nautical gift shops and packed pizza places.

"I've been coming down here since I was nine years old. Everyone's got their shore town. This is mine," Buck County beachgoer Timothy Grant said.

Sea Isle has become a pretty popular beach. Over the last few years so much so that finding parking can be difficult.

"Actually I moved my car yesterday. It took me a half an hour to find a spot," Grant said.

Last year, the parking problem gave Grant an idea to open a scooter rental store.

"It's a fun way to get around anywhere," Grant said.

Kyle Lohrmann and his girlfriend rented two scooters for a few hours.

They said the scooters can be parked anywhere and they make getting around a lot less stressful.

Grant said he hopes his business idea will a 'shore thing'.

"My goal is to be here next year. If it's a good idea I'm here. If it works I'm here. If it's not I had the summer at the shore. And had a good time," Grant said.
