Long says he 'didn't pull the trigger' in death of stepson

VIDEO: Lower Mt. Bethel Twp shooting...

LOWER MOUNT BETHEL TWP., Pa. - Dennis Long, 52, is facing a charge of criminal homicide.

Yet, he told police he and his stepson were wrestling for a gun and he did not pull the trigger.

Police responded to the shooting at a farm property on Upper Little Creek Road around 10 p.m. Saturday in Lower Mount Bethel Township.

Neighbors say they heard the sounds of screaming and a gunshot. Then, they say they heard Long say, "I shot Ryan."

Ryan is Ryan Boomer, the 26-year-old stepson of Long. He was found slouched over near the doorway of a trailer on the property. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Long later told officials he, his wife, and Boomer were drinking when they got into an argument about Boomer not having a job.

Long said it escalated into a physical fight, and during the altercation he and his stepson were fighting over a rifle Long had in a back room.

Long says at some point the rifle discharged and Boomer was hit. But Long insists he didn't pull the trigger.
