Lower Macungie OKs Mack Trucks improvements

LOWER MACUNGIE, Pa. - Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners granted Mack Trucks permission to make facility upgrades Thursday night.

The approval was granted following a brief hearing. The changes addressed parking revisions.

The company has made several improvements to the property as they adjust their assembly lines to coincide with their current business model, which include parking.

The plans submitted for the property, located at 3350 Gehman Road, include 200 spaces for visitor parking, 200 spaces for employee parking and 400 spaces for truck parking. In addition, the company has made front end improvement to the property, which include a walking path.

In other news, Township Manager Bruce Fosselman noted that 9,120 recycling containers are expected to be delivered to township residents on the north side of the turnpike starting Monday.

Deliveries will continue daily until all have been dispensed. Fosselman reminded residents that the containers will be loaded onto trucks by a mechanical arm. As such, he noted it was important that township residents correctly put out the containers, with the arrows on the lid pointing toward the street and the handle toward the house.

Commissioner Brian Higgins was absent from Thursday night's meeting.
