LVIA to host pop-up farm stand this week

Subarashii Kudamono pears will be featured

HANOVER TWP., Pa. - Visitors this week to Lehigh Valley International Airport can grab a flight and some pears.

LVIA will debut a pop-up farm stand 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, featuring Asian pears from Berks County-based Subarashii Kudamono. The farm stand will be located on the second level of the main terminal.

The public will receive validated parking for 50 minutes with a purchase from Kudamono during the first hour of the farmstand, according to the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority.

Visitors and travelers will be able to sample pears and purchase gift boxes, a "pair of pears" or other items. Fall flavors include butterscotch, citrus, cashew, starfruit, kiwi, melon and honey.

"The airport authority believes in supporting local businesses," authority interim Executive Director Thomas Stoudt said. "The pop-up stand brings a unique element to achieving our mission of delivering the highest level of customer service.
