Macungie couple headed for trial in police chase

A Lehigh County couple accused of leading police on a high-speed chase say they wanted to "clean up."

But they also wanted to go out with a bang.

"Ultimately, their statements are that they needed a place to get warm so the best thing for them to do, apparently, was to steal two police cars-- one in Camden and one in Philadelphia," said Assistant Philadelphia DA Guy D'Andrea.

A judge has held most charges against Blake Bills and Shayna Sykes for trial.

The Macungie couple say they had used cocaine and heroin and were sleeping on the street before the March 5th incident.

Police say they led cops on a destructive chase that started in Camden and ended in Philadelphia.

Three people were hurt including a Camden police officer who broke his leg.

Prosecutors say the pair also admitted to stealing a delivery vehicle and selling items inside the day before.
