Macungie couple involved in Philadelphia police chase

Macungie couple arrested in police car theft and chase

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - A Lehigh County couple was involved in a car chase involving two police cars in Camden and Philadelphia Tuesday morning, police said.

The suspects, Blake Bills and Shayna Sykes, both of Macungie, commandeered a patrol car in Camden, N.J., after an officer got out to make a traffic stop, and they led officers on a chase over the Ben Franklin Bridge into Philadelphia, said police, adding that the officer was struck as they drove away.

While pursuing police were able to take Bills, 24, into custody in Philadelphia, Sykes, 23, broke loose and stole a Philadelphia patrol car, police said.

After another chase, officers were able to stop her in the Northern Liberties neighborhood, where she was arrested.

Bills and Sykes are facing numerous charges in Camden and Philadelphia, including driving under the influence and resisting arrest.
