Man accused in child sex assaults takes last minute plea deal

EASTON, Pa. - A Bethlehem man admitted to sexually assaulting four children – some of them for years – and recording some of the attacks on the day his trial was set to start.

Lorenzo Culver Jr., 46, originally negotiated a plea deal in March, but withdrew last minute and told the judge he wanted a trial.

His trial was set to start Tuesday in Northampton County Court, but he entered a guilty plea instead and was sentenced to 25 to 50 years in prison.

Culver pleaded guilty to all charges, including rape, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, corruption of minors and child endangerment

In July 2015, Bethlehem police charged Culver in connection with the sexual assault of a 12-year-old boy in 2014 that lasted for about three months. He allegedly told the boy he was teaching him “how to be a man.”

The attacks occurred inside Culver’s home in the 200 block of East Ettwein Street.

Authorities filed four additional sets charges a few weeks later. He was accused of assaulting three other children and recording some of the abuse. Investigators allege he forced the children to perform sex acts on him and performed sex acts on the children.

Police allege Culver also gave alcohol to one of the teens.
