Man allegedly pulls gun outside Redner's grocery store

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - An Allentown man is facing endangerment charges after allegedly pointing a handgun at a man during an argument in a grocery store parking lot.

Police charged Brian D. Edwards, of West Tilghman Street, with reckless endangerment, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct in connection to the incident outside the Redner’s Warehouse Market Friday afternoon. District Judge Rod beck arraigned the 39-year-old later that night, setting bail at $100,000.

Allentown police were called to the Airport Road grocery store about 12:30 p.m. Friday to investigate a reported disturbance involving a handgun.

The victim told police that he was moving from one parking space to another, when he was allegedly confronted by Edwards who thought the driver was going to hit pedestrians with his car, according to court records.

As the two men traded expletives, the victim reportedly noticed Edwards was parked in a handicap parking space. He walked around the car searching for a handicap placard allegedly prompting Edwards to warn the victim to stay away from his car.

The victim and witnesses reported that Edwards then retrieved a handgun, placed a magazine in the gun and loaded a round in the chamber, according to records. He was then heard saying, “I will shoot you dead,” police said.

A pair of store managers allegedly heard Edwards tell the victim, “If you look at my car or go near it, I’ll shoot you dead.” When police arrived, they recovered a loaded Taurus .40 caliber handgun in the trunk of Edwards’ car.

Edwards failed to post bail and was sent to Lehigh County Jail to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for Oct. 13.
