Man busted for selling cocaine in Bethlehem

Jose A. Rosas-Rojas of Allentown arrested by state narcotics agents

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - A 42-year-old Allentown man been arrested for selling cocaine on the streets of Bethlehem.

Jose A. Rosas-Rojas was charged with two counts of possession, unlawful delivery of drugs, criminal use of a cellphone to commit a felony, possessions of instruments of crime and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Rosas-Roja, who resides in an apartment at 645 N. 4th St. in Allentown, was committed to Northampton County Prison after being arraigned Friday.

Bail was set at $500,000.

The defendant was being investigated by narcotics agents with the state Attorney General's narcotics investigation and drug control bureau.

At about 8:06 p.m. Sunday, Rosas-Rojas sold just over 56 grams of cocaine for $2,600 to a police informant while under surveillance in the 1300 block of W. Broad Street in Bethlehem, according to law enforcement officials.

The cocaine had an estimated street value of $5,600.

On Wednesday,  police arrested Rosas-Rojas in the 900 block of Monocacy Street in Bethlehem.

He had 77 grams of cocaine and $3,350 in his possession.

The cocaine was hidden in a trap under the flooring inside the defendant's 2005 Chrysler Pacifica.

Police said the car was the instrument of crime and the hiding spot constituted drug paraphernalia.

Law enforcement officials reported those 77 grams had an estimated street value of $7,700.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for  9 a.m. March 28 before Magisterial District Judge Roy Manwaring II in Bethlehem.
