Man dies 5 days after Lehigh Street crash

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A man has died nearly a week after an accident on Lehigh Street.

According to the Lehigh County Coroner, Edgardo Alvarado, 23, of Allentown, died Thursday, October 12, from injuries he sustained in a wreck that occurred on Saturday, October 7, at Lehigh and South Glenwood streets.

The coroner lists multiple blunt force injuries as the cause of death.

Officials say Alvarado was driving south on Lehigh Street when a car in the northbound lanes turned left in front of him onto Glenwood Street.

Police said the driver of the second car, an 85-year-old Wescosville man, suffered minor injuries.

Both southbound lanes of Lehigh Street were closed from Downyflake Lane to I-78 for several hours causing delays in both directions.

There's still no word on charges related to the crash.
