Police: Man hit while adding gas to vehicle parked on highway shoulder

BETHLEHEM TWP., Pa. - Police are the hunt for the driver who struck and killed a man who was adding gas to his vehicle while parked along the shoulder of Route 22 in Northampton County.

The crash happened around 2 a.m. Saturday along Route 22 East at mile marker 331.3 in Bethlehem Township.

State Police say Paul Agens, 60, of Hamburg, N.J., was standing in the road next to his vehicle, which was parked on the shoulder. He was attempting to put gas into his vehicle when he was struck by a passing vehicle, which fled the scene.

Agens was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

So far, there is no information on the type of vehicle that struck Agens.
